Founded by Michael Flynn, MTRL.studio is a design and fabrication practice rooted in architecture and forward-thinking sustainable methods. A graduate of the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Michael established his studio in Phoenix, Arizona, where the city’s dynamic environment inspires experimentation and innovation. Drawing on his architectural background, he develops lighting and product designs that unite sculptural form, practical function, and ecological responsibility—while keeping premium design accessible to a broad audience.

At the core of MTRL.studio is a commitment to environmental stewardship. We create pendant lights, lampshades, and fixtures using advanced, eco-conscious materials such as PLA derived from renewable sugarcane, recycled PETG sourced from post-consumer plastics, and rPPgf—a striking composite made from recycled polypropylene fishing nets reinforced with glass fiber. By moving beyond conventional petroleum-based plastics, we significantly reduce our ecological footprint while delivering durable, refined products that enhance any space.
